Exclamation Bugs in phpLD (must see this if you care about your site)

hey all,

today i was disecting phpld and found two bugs in phpld rss.

Well keep on reading.

One major bug is that

phpLD RSS does not display Featured Listings

Examples of site which does not display featured (sorry i only tested these no discrimination against the owners)

http://www.forplex.com/rss.php?c=2
http://www.alivedirectory.com/rss.php?c=96&s=P&p=1

Featured listings are not there .... i am certain there are many more .. but i just happened to check the following because i visit these alot.

Now the fixed version is right here

http://www.idk.in/rss.php?c=462&s=P&p=1

and the second bug is an unnecessary tag on the second level category title in RSS.

Bug:

http://www.gmax.idk.in/rss.php?c=77&s=P&p=1

Fixed Version:

http://www.idk.in/rss.php?c=77&s=P&p=1

I have disabled RSS cause RSS causes lots of supplemental results, its not SEO friendly at all either.

Suplimental results are not all that bad if used to your advantage. At least not if you have your main content in normal searches.

When I first noticed Suplimental results in Google I would actually sort through them looking for what I wanted. Oddly enough, there was less spam in them. *shrug* Though, this is likely changed.

Either way, do not do what SEO guidelines specify, put your end user first. If, in all you do, you ask yourself "what would my readers think" and the answer is positive, that is what you should do. Eventually Google will follow suit, or tweak their algo's to match.

Google is currently pushing down paidlinks and directories. I'd really not be surprized if it was RSS feeds next, which would mean the heat will not be on those that send them out, but rather those that host them as content.

And in searching for content, I've personally clicked through an RSS link to find the original, and have gone through a forum archive to get to the main thread. Had these things not made fair results in Google, maybe I'd not have found the information.

So, keep it white, keep it fair, and put the user first... then tweak out things for the SE.

Hehe... this had nothing to do with the OP, sorry.

Hmm,
What i do is in my robots.txt disable crawling of rss.php file so that way readers can subscribe to rss feeds if they want to , and still google will not be able to see them
